Elite Defenseman Camp

Due To The High Demand BBHS Recommends Registering Early
My Defense Camp is a great program for the beginner to the advanced defenseman. This is a clinic that covers defensive drills that young players do not see in most team practices. It is a great opportunity for teammates to attend, learn and work together. Defensemen that come as a part of a team or group will work together during the clinic.
We will cover the following Defense Components:

  • Defensive Positioning
  • Puck Handling
  • Backward Skating in the Zones
  • Body Positioning
  • Angles
  • Open Ice Checking
  • Stick Checking
  • Odd Man Rushes
  • Jumping in to the Play
The Defense position in hockey is evolving very quickly. The new NHL rules, which allow much less obstruction, are filtering down to minor hockey levels. This evolution of the rules has brought about a change to the model of the “defense” player. The stereotypical big, strong, physical player with somewhat less skating ability, speed and agility than typical forwards is being replaced with an athlete still sharing the traits of strength and physical play, but who is now relied upon to match speed with attacking forwards, quarterback the team attack and participate to a far greater extent in the rush and offensive zone play.
Defenseman/Professional Hockey Player for 15 years. Played in the NHL for Quebec Nordiques, St. Louis Blues and NY Rangers, as well as in the IHL, AHL and in Europe.
To define the art of playing defense. In the camp, we will cover all responsibilities that a player needs to learn to excel at a high level of competition.
Skating skills, puck control, defensive zone coverage, one on one, containing players, positional play, shooting etc.
